THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN FAIRBANKS HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW...BLOWING SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 3 AM AKST TUESDAY. THE FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON AKST TODAY.

* LOCATION...LIGHT FREEZING RAIN WILL OCCUR THIS MORNING...THEN SNOW SHOWERS WILL DEVELOP IN THE AFTERNOON. BLOWING SNOW WILL OCCUR OVER HIGHER TERRAIN THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS...ICE ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE LIGHT...LESS THAN ONE TENTH OF AN INCH OR LESS.

* SNOW...ACCUMULATIONS 2 TO 5 INCHES WITH HEAVIEST AMOUNTS OVER THE HILLS.

* TIMING...PATCHY FREEZING RAIN SHOULD BE EXPECTED THROUGH THE MORNING. COLDER AIR MOVING INTO THE AREA WILL CHANGE FREEZING RAIN TO SNOW SHOWERS BY AFTERNOON. SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE UNTIL EARLY TUESDAY MORNING. LOCAL SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL GUST TO 30 MPH OVER HIGHER TERRAIN IN THE AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.

* IMPACTS...TRAVEL WILL BE DIFFICULT. ICE ACCUMULATIONS ON POWER LINES AND TREE BRANCHES MAY CAUSE POWER OUTAGES. VISIBILITY MAY BE GREATLY REDUCED OVER HIGHER TERRAIN.
