Former UAF Student dies in motorcycle crash in Anchorage.

Anchorage Police say a 20 year old man died Monday evening after crashing his motorcycle

into a pick-up truck in South Anchorage.

The man was identified as Justin Ashley, of Anchorage.

Police say Ashley was traveling northbound on Old Seward Highway when he struck a Ford

F-150 truck that was turning onto Industry Way.

According to APD spokeswoman Jennifer Castro, police received reports of the crash around

6:42 p.m.

Medics took Ashley to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say he was wearing a helmet and do not believe alcohol was a factor in the

collision.

Newscenter 11 spoke early Tuesday with former KTVF11 Sports Anchor

Fred Brown, who says he and Ashley attended the University of Alaska

Fairbanks during the 2010-2011 school year.

Brown says Ashley would have celebrated his 21st birthday today.
