Former Trooper Captain pleads not guilty to sexual abuse

Fairbanks- Not guilty pleas for a former Fairbanks based Alaska State Trooper commander arraigned this afternoon in Fairbanks Superior Court.

76-year-old Warren Tanner is charged with 6 felony counts of Sexual Abuse of a minor.

The abuse dates back to 2003 when the alleged victim was 3 or 4 years old and continued until 2011.

According to court documents, Tanner allegedly abused the girl in his North Pole home, forcing her to undress and then inappropriately touching her; one of the last instances of abuse reportedly occurred on a fishing trip to Valdez in an RV.

The victim's mother discovered text messages indicating the abuse had occurred and confronted Tanner about it, he then admitted to touching the victim quote, "5 or 6 times from the time she was 6 or 7, but hadn't touched her in a few years."

Trial in this case is scheduled for May 19th.
