Flight split opening day in Las Vegas with close games

LAS VEGAS, NV-Yesterday was day one of the Big Foot Hoops Las Vegas Classic Tournament. The Alaska Flight basketball split two games in pool play. Both games came down to the final possession.

The 17U team won on a buzzer beater by Reece Robinson of Service on a feed from Lathrop's Kyle Carlson to give the Flight a 63-62 victory over the Houston Force. The Flight came back from a 12 point deficit with four minutes remaining.

The 16U team fell to the Friends of Hoop Seattle 53-54 in overtime. Soldotna's Nathan Spence missed a tip in at the buzzer for the Flight.

The 17U team is in a four team pool with Piedmont Hills High School out of California and the All Ball Academy from the British Columbia. The 16U team is a pool with the Vegas Rebels and Louisiana Future. The tournament ends this Sunday.
