FAIRBANKS-Over the weekend one of the toughest races in the Interior the Annihilator took place in Nenana. This race is a 10K that starts in a huge gravel pit. The trail was numerous ascends and descends and some small hikes.
The Annihilator kicks of the Running Club North Trail Series as the first race of the season.
Jaime Johnson was the women's runner up finishing in one hour two minutes and 50 seconds. Erica Black was third coming in a about 43 seconds later.
Dana Fjare was the women's top finishing coming in at 55:50 which also tied Ted Alder who was the men's runner up. Jessie Holmes was third just under 57 minutes.
But the overall winner was Sam Herreid, a four time veteran of this event, who set a goal of 55 minutes. He beat that goal coming in at 52 minutes 41 seconds.
