First weekend in April features a number of sports events

FAIRBANKS-There's a little bit of everything going on for you sports heads in the Interior this weekend. In the morning before noon at 11am is the Spring Fling Run at the UAF Patty Center. It's a flat 5K course. There's a suggested $5 donation for the race which acts as a fundraiser for the Lathrop Cross Country team.

Later Saturday afternoon at 3pm will be the Denali Dog 140 sled dog race. Yeah there's one more dog mushing race. It starts and ends at Water's Edge Bed and Breakfast on Summit Lake, Mile 191 on the Richardson Highway. The course goes through the Alpine Lodge and Mile 68 on the Denali Highway.

Saturday night Game 2 of the NAHL Midwest Division semifinals between the Kenai River Brown Bears and Fairbanks Ice Dogs. Puck drops at 730 at the Big Dipper Ice Arena.

Then on Sunday the 12th Annual Ski For Women at Birch Hill. The untimed 5K starts at 12:30. Donations go to the Interior Alaska Center for Non-Violent Living or IAC.

Also on Sunday the finals of the 79th International Bonspiel at the Fairbanks Curling Club. The finals start at 1 on Sunday check out the curlers in their jungle themed gear.
