First Red Flag exercise of the season starts

This year's first run of the Pacific Air Forces' premier air combat exercise, RED FLAG-Alaska started May 8 at Eielson Air Force Base and runs until the 23rd.

It’s the first of four Red Flag exercises planned for this calendar year, and has participants from the U. S. Air Force, Navy and Army, and the Republic of Singapore.

Eleven different types of aircraft, including jets and helicopters, are being used in the training.

The exercises are conducted in the Joint Pacific Alaska Range Complex, or JPARC, the largest training range in America at more than 65 thousand square miles.
