First baseball game in the Interior starts great for West Valley

FAIRBANKS, AK-Marlin Field was the site of the first baseball game seen in the Interior due to the unusually long winter. The Wolfpack were hosts to the Hutchison Hawks. The Hawks are a first year program over at Hutch and it would show. A lot of growing pains this year for the Hawks as Michael Benson and Thomas Lees split duty on the mound but it didn't help much.

Trailing 4-0 in the top of the second inning West Valley's Connor Soden rips of a single into left field bringing home Abe Haas. That starting a big inning for the Wolfpack who reel off 7 runs in the inning.

West Valley was a head 11-0 before the Hawks finally got out of the inning off a nice catch by Hutchison centerfielder Ryan Medrano. The Hawks would get a run on a sacrifice fly to prevent the shutout but Michael Kolacki was solid on the mound for West Valley closing out the third inning with a K. The Wolfpack were ahead 11-1 at the end of the third. The final score was not reported at press time.
