FAIRBANKS- Wood is a popular heating source in the interior, but it can require certain skills to maximize your savings and minimize effort. The Cooperative Extension will host the 4th annual Firewood Workshop to teach the skills to be a better burner. Several agencies will talk about wood stove operation and maintenance, drying wood, determining how many cords you need, and where to get firewood. Organizers say, the interior has several publicly accessible locations to cut firewood and they will have information on collecting wood from different land owners.
The free firewood workshop will be hosted in Schaible Auditorium at UAF, from 10 am until 2 pm.
