Firefighters stay busy with wildfires in local area

Winds and tender dry conditions are keeping firefighters in the area busy.

The Florice (FLOOR-eece) fire started this afternoon near Peede and Nordale roads.

Pete Buist at the fire information center said the blaze was believed to have burned three to five acres by about 7pm, but equipment and people were brought in from other fires because it's a heavy populated area.

That one was reportedly contained.

Another blaze occurred after that north of alice drive, off chena hot springs road.

It was reportedly started by a downed power line.
