Alaska State Troopers responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident this morning on the Steese Highway near Mile 17.
According to Troopers, the report came in at 7:30am; when Troopers arrived on scene EMS was already there tending to the victims.
Investigation revealed that a 2008 Ford F-250 truck was Northbound on the Steese when it lost traction on the ice.
The truck left the road and rolled down a 30 foot embankment.
The driver, identified as 29-year-old Jason Johnson of Utah and his passenger 26-year-old Michael Hiatt of Utah were transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital with, what were described as, non-life threatening injuries.
The third occupant, 39-year-old Lacey Buttram of Idaho was pronounced dead shortly after EMS arrival.
All occupants were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
The investigation into the accident is continuing.
