Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival

You know it's Summer in Fairbanks when the temperatures are near 80, the mosquitoes are thick, but more importantly the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival kicks off.The festival this year has recruited more than 600 registrants for a variety of arts with 120 professional teachers on hand to give instruction.

This year, it will be a particularly logistical nightmare as construction up at the University of Alaska Fairbanks means many venues have had to be moved.

Never-the-less the public will be treated over the next couple of weeks to some stellar performances.Teresa Lantz with the festival, says there will be plenty of events all over town."We have several free concert opportunities everyday at noon 15, there's a lunch bites concert in the co-op plaza. There are also lunch bites at different locations around town.

Wednesday night we're going to be part of the Golden Days Kickoff at Pioneer Park and also on Thursday night there's a pioneer potpourri of a concert with many of our guest artists.

It's a great opportunity to come see festival."
