Fairbanks snow machiner rescued from Hoodoo Mountains

A Fairbanks man was rescued by helicopter after flipping his snow machine in the Hoodoo Mountains yesterday.

32-year-old Tyrel Johnson flipped his snow machine while riding up the mountain near Summit Lake and severely injured his leg, leaving him trapped.

Due to the remote location and terrain, Alaska State Troopers coordinated with the Rescue Coordination Center and Elmendorf Air Force Base to perform a rescue via helicopter.

Johnson was rescued by the HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter and taken to Providence Medical Center where he received treatment for his injuries.
