Fairbanks Police Department Investigating reports of attempted abuction

Reports of an attempted abduction spread via social media late yesterday afternoon.

A mother who was visiting Barnes and Noble Book store alleged that a man of “Asian descent” attempted to abduct her daughter, but was saved by a bystander.

According to Detectives with the Fairbanks Police Department, they received the report of the incident last night.

There have been 2 reports of possible attempted abductions, one in the Barnes and Noble area and one in the Hamilton Acres area, both alleged suspects matching the “Asian descent” description.

Police and Patrol Units, including those with the SRO Schools Program have been notified and are patrolling the areas as well as following up on leads to confirm these reports.

The Newscenter spoke to Detectives on the case and will have more as information becomes available.
