A Fairbanks man has been sentenced to serve over 27 years in prison, after being charged with almost 20 counts of sexual abuse of a minor.
Raymond Arkell pleaded guilty to two counts of first degree sexual abuse of a minor today in Fairbanks Superior Court.
The charges stem from earlier this year when Alaska State Troopers received a report from the office of children’s services stating that a 16-year old girl told a school staff member that she had been sexually abused, by Arkell, since she was nine years old.
During an interview with investigators, the girl described the incidents of alleged abuse.
Prosecutors say they agreed to the plea deal so that the girl would not have to testify in court.
