A Fairbanks man has been charged after Alaska State Troopers say he trespassed into a North Pole residence and took custody of a 3-year-old child.
27-year-old Juan Victor Salgado Figueroa is facing criminal trespass in the first degree, assault, and numerous other charges after he and an unidentified female fled the scene with the child.
A release says Figueroa damaged property at the residence before taking the child, who belonged to his alleged female accomplice, and then led authorities on a manhunt with both Troopers and Fairbanks Police.
Both Figueroa and the female turned themselves in at the office of a local attorney; the child was turned over to the Office of Children's Services.
Troopers say the case is being sent to the District Attorney's office for review and possible additional charges.
Troopers also said the incident did not meet the criteria for an Amber Alert because all people involved were known to each other and had a claim of guardianship for the child.
