The Fairbanks Hospital Foundation and UAF unveil new scoreboard

FAIRBANKS, AK-Today at the Patty Center Ice Arena a new scoreboard was unveiled late this afternoon.

The Fairbanks Hospital Foundation and UAF partnered in purchasing the new scoreboard that cost about 11 thousand dollars. The Foundation received a six year scoreboard advertising contract.

The quaint unveiling was also a way to recognize what former Nanook hockey player Kaare Odegard and hockey program volunteer Shawn Head have done with the With All Your Heart campaign. It raised funds to assist the Porter Heart Center and patients with heart related illnesses.

Nanooks sophomore forward Alec Hajdukovich will take over for Odegard and was happy to do so.

"He's a really good mentor and he's a really cool guy. I really like his family. I got a chance to meet his family this year in I believe his last year. They just made a strong impact on me and it was something I was interested in," Hajdukovich said. "Yeah it ended up working out perfectly."

The forward also gave his input on the fresh scoreboard.

"As far as jazzy up the Patty Center I think it's an awesome addition and I think the whole team and you know, the organization is excited about it."
