Fairbanks cooperative applies for pipeline permit

The rural power cooperative based in Fairbanks has applied for a permit to build a short natural gas pipeline on the North Slope.

The Department of Natural Resources permit would allow Golden Valley Electric Association to move gas from a flow station to a site for a gas liquefaction plant.

GVEA wants to truck liquefied natural gas to Fairbanks.

GVEA power supply engineer Paul Parks says that the pipeline is a piece of the puzzle.

The permit application seeks an above-ground, 10-inch pipeline from Flow Station No. 3 near Prudhoe Bay to a site north of Spine Road.
