Extreme Fire Danger in the Fairbanks North Star Borough

Alaska State Forestry has issued an extreme fire condition for the Fairbanks North Star Borough area. Our community is experiencing multiple fires on an almost daily basis. With this current condition it is important to do everything possible to protect life and property during these fire prone conditions.

Therefore, Fairbanks North Star Borough Mayor Luke Hopkins, City of Fairbanks Mayor Jerry Cleworth and City of North Pole Mayor Bryce Ward have asked local fire departments, in conjunction with the Alaska State Fire Marshall, to ban the use of fireworks.

This ban is in effect beginning noon Friday, June 28, 2013 until further notice.

Local Fire Department Chiefs will collectively or individually remove the authority depending on the fire hazard in their respective areas.

Participating Fire Departments:

North Star Volunteer Fire Department
Fairbanks International Airport Police & Fire
Goldstream Fire & Rescue
City of Fairbanks Fire Department
Dept. of Public Safety, Division of Fire Safety
