Expectant mother injured in 3-vehicle crash.

FAIRBANKS, AK -- An unidentified expectant mother was taken to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries after she was involved in a three vehicle accident on the City's West side Tuesday afternoon.

University of Alaska Fire officials and the Alaska State Troopers got the call just after 3:30 p.m. responding to the intersection of Airport Wa and Old Airport Way. Eyewitnesses say the driver of a late model Ford Escape attempted a left hand turn on to Old Airport Way, and was struck by a Chevy Suburban Sport Utility vehicle. Witnesses at the scene say the woman is nine months pregnant.

State Trooper Lucas Altapeter urged caution to motorists as temperatures warm up.

"Motorists need to maintain normal safe driving," said Altapeter.  "It's warming up, people are happy to be out there...should be more daylight.  It should be easier to see and excited to move and get traveling.  Slow down, pay more attention and get home safely."
