FAIRBANKS-This evening you can pick up your bib for this weekend's Equinox Marathon. Bib pick up is tonight until 8 at tomorrow from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Pump House Restaurant.
If you haven't registered you can today and tomorrow. $95 for the marathon and relay. It's $115 for the ultramarathon. There will be no discounts for Running North Club Members.
It will be the 51st running of the Equinox Marathon this Saturday at 8 am in front of the UAF Patty Center. There will be some adjustments to the course this year.
There is no loop around the antennas on Observatory Summit on Ester Dome. The turnaround is more downhill. Due construction at the sledding hill by the Patty Center, the start will be near Alumni Drive's roundabout.
Also people can drop off their outdated telephone books for recycling at the Marathon.
Over 900 people have registered so far. Last year over 1200 people registered. But there is still time to reach 1,000 or more. Of those 900 runners the youngest is 8 year-old Porter Burkins from Vermont. The eldest is a Fairbanksan. Junetta Hanneman is 83 years young and will run the Marathon.
At least 19 different states will be represented from Connecticut and Virginia to Wisconsin and Hawaii.
