A community meeting on the Interior Energy Project will be held Tuesday ( July 8) at 5:30pm at the Westmark Fairbanks Hotel.
It’s sponsored by the Fairbanks Economic Development Corporation Energy for All Alaska Task Force.
A comprehensive update from AIDEA and M-W-H Global regarding progress on the North Slope plant facility will be offered, along with presentations from Fairbanks Natural Gas and the Interior Gas Utility.
Officials at FEDCo say this is the first in a series of engagement meetings intended to keep the community informed and involved in the project.
The Interior Energy Project (IEP) includes the components of developing a North Slope facility capable of serving half to three-quarters of estimated residential and commercial heating needs for customers in Interior Alaska, reducing high energy costs, and improving air quality. Based on an aggressive schedule, natural gas could be delivered to Fairbanks in the fourth-quarter 2015.
