FAIRBANKS-Eielson will not defend its small schools state title. The Bulldogs made sure of that with a strong second half in their 38-20 victory.
The game was tied 20-20 at halftime but the Bulldogs scored 18 unanswered in the second half and closed out the game.
The Bulldogs reversed their performance from the first metting between the two teams but came out with nearly the same result points wise. In the first game in the regular season Nikiski jumped out with a strong first half but it was Eielson who played better in the second half. Nikiski was still able to a get 35-20 win. Tonight it seems NIkiski put together two halves of football. The Bulldogs await the winner of the Monroe Barrow game for the small schools state title.
Eielson's Tony Griffith broke for a mammoth 97 yard touchdown run giving him 21 scores for the season.
The Ravens finish the 2013 season going 5-1 in the Greatland conference, 5-3 overall in the regular season and 5-4 on the year including the postseason loss.
