Eielson AFB Works to Fix Steam and Water

FAIRBANKS- Engineers at Eielson Air Force Base have been juggling various heat and water pipe problems since Saturday, which left nearly 200 homes without heat. They finished temporary repairs on the steam system yesterday, allowing residents to return home, and officials say permanent repairs will be finished today. During the outage, 70 families received free housing at the Goldrush Inn. On a related note, permanent repairs on the French Creek Housing water line began early this afternoon.  Residents in French Creek are urged not to boil water because it needs to be certified as safe. Water is available through Friday at the flight kitchen of Eielson's dining facility. Officials expect to know water test results by tomorrow afternoon.
