Eagle River shutsout Lathrop, Patriots fall

FAIRBANKS-The Lathrop Malemutes hosted the Eagle River Wolves last night in the Patty Center Ice Arena but suffered a 4-0 defeat.

Blake Halfpenny was money with this power play goal at the 5:46 mark of the first. It's 1-0 Wolves. That would be the theme as the Malemutes would be in the penalty box most of the night.
Later in the second period, with the Wolves up 2-0, Conner Cantebury finds Rile Annis for the score. That was a power play goal too-a 5-on-3 advantage for the Wolves.

Eagle River goes on to win this one 4-0. Sophomore Jeffrey Hartman got the shutout and Jesse Johnson had two goals for Eagle River. The Wolves play West Valley today at 4:45 in the Patty Center Ice Arena.


The East Anchorage Thunderbirds came into the Polar Ice Arena and came away with a 3-1 last night. East will now get a revenge game against Lathrop today at 3:45. The last time these two teams met the Malemutes won 9-7.

The Patriots will host Kenai today at 3:15.
