Downed aircraft found North of Fairbanks

A spokesman for the Alaska Air National Guard says rescue units are responding to a downed aircraft north of Fairbanks.

Maj. Guy Hayes said on Wednesday night that Fairbanks Civil Air Patrol investigated a report of an overdue plane and found a downed aircraft about 40 miles north of Fairbanks.

Hayes was not immediately reachable by phone or email late Wednesday night to provide any details on the plane.

The Air Guard's Sgt. Gail Paculba says the aircraft was a private plane. She said she had no additional information immediately available.
