A Lathrop Student who had been declared missing since last Thursday has been located in Washington State.
15 year old Weston Luther was reported missing by his mother.
According to Fairbanks Police, Luther reported to one class at Lathrop High School, and then simply disappeared.
FPD Officer Doug Welborn told Newscenter 11 that the missing teen had been picked up on the side of the Richardson Highway and was seen near Salcha, telling the motorist he was headed to Canada.
Shortly after 3pm, Fairbanks Police received confirmation that Luther was found in Washington State.
He is being transported to a Crisis Residential Center and will be housed pending placement by Fairbanks' Office of Children Services.
Newscenter 11 obtained the following quote from FPD: "Police received a call from the Washington state patrol at about 3:40 AKST advising that they had contacted a minor walking along Interstate 82. The individual identified himself as Weston and by last name is Luther, didn't provide any other detail regarding his name. We contacted Washington State Patrol and provided them further information regarding his description including a tattoo on his right shoulder and that's what they used to identify him as Weston. At this time we don't have any further details other than he appears unharmed and that he is in their custody right now pending safe placement."
