A military dependent died at an on-post residence on Fort Wainwright overnight.
A soldier assigned to U.S Army Alaska was treated at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital for injuries believed to be related to the incident. He was released to the custody of the Fort Wainwright Criminal Investigation Command for questioning in regard to the incident. No charges have been filed at this time.
U. S. Army Alaska officials said there is no danger to members of the Fort Wainwright or Fairbanks communities related to this incident. An investigation is currently underway by the Fort Wainwright Criminal Investigation Command. They say as facts are discovered and confirmed they will be made available so as to not impede the ongoing investigation.
In accordance with Army policy, the name of the family member will not be released until 24 hours after the next of kin have been officially notified.
