Deadline to remove studded tires is extended

Due to the elongated winter weather the deadline to remove those studded tires has again, been extended.

Previously announced, the deadline normally April 15th was originally extended to May 1st and since then the weather has continued to reflect winter conditions and hazardous travel.

Due to that the Department of Public Safety announced the deadline would be again extended to May 15th.

If the tires are not removed from the vehicles by the deadline, those driving with studded tires could be issued a correctable ticket with a $50 fine by Alaska State Troopers.
