Customs positions added to Fairbanks International Airport

United States Customs and Border Protection will be doubling the number of customs positions in Fairbanks.

The increase will be seen at Fairbanks International Airport and is to allow direct flights between Fairbanks and Dawson City, Yukon.

The federal agency last month denied a proposal by a Whitehorse based airline to offer flights between the two cities, citing a staffing shortage in Fairbanks.

The airline, Air North, won an appeal in the case and will be adding the 3-permanent positions to Fairbanks.
