Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident downtown in the Cushman Street Bridge project area that recently opened to traffic.
Fairbanks City Police and fire personnel got the call just before 2 PM today, responding to the Cushman Street Bridge near First Avenue.
According to city police officer Cory Rupe, the unidentified driver of a Ford Ranger apparently was unfamiliar with the new lighting in the immediate area. Rupe says the male driver ran the red light on First Avenue and side-swiped a Ford Aerostar that was traveling eastbound on Cushman Street.
Three people were taken to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. An investigation into the crash continues.
