Close but no cigar for UAF women falling short to UAA

FAIRBANKS-The Nanook women's basketball team faced their rivals UAA on Saturday.

The Seawolves struck first with an Emily Craft buckeT. She had 16 for UAA. Victoria Milton hit a three right before halftime for UAF and the Nooks trailed 49-40 at the break.

UAF continued to surge in the second half behind Kelly Logue who scored a career high 21 points. The Nooks tied and got their first lead of the game on Jordan Wilson buckets, she had 22 points and 16 boards-both game highs. UAF led 81-75 with 5:25 to go.

But Jenna Buchanan of the Seawolves hit huge shots to give UAA the lead. She had 17 timely points. UAA outscored the Nooks 19-6 in the last five minutes.

Kiki Robinson, the freshmen, got a steal and fastbreak layup to clinch this one. Robinson had a team high 19 as UAA rallies for a 96-87 win
