FAIRBANKS, Ak -- Brian Newton has resigned as President and CEO of Golden Valley Electric Association, effective immediately.

According to a release from the utility, Newton plans to pursue opportunities in the Lower 48

Newton has been in the job for the past 4 and half years, and the board will hire a search firm to replace him.

In the meantime, Cory Borgeson, who serves as GVEA's corporate attorney, has been named interim President & CEO.
