A 29 year old Georgia man was arrested this weekend near Fairbanks, after Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on the Parks Highway.
According to a news release, just after noon on Saturday, Troopers stopped a white Ford Explorer for a moving violation along the Parks Highway at Mile 242.
Troopers say the driver, identified as Richard Sims, had a warrant for his arrest in Georgia for Felony Battery/Cruelty to Children.
Sims was taken into custody as a Fugitive From Justice, and remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center on the arrest warrant.
He was arraigned Sunday in Fairbanks District Court, and awaits extradition back to Georgia to face charges there.
