A Fairbanks man is in jail after a 3-vehicle collision closed down the Mitchell Expressway this evening.
According to Trooper Spokeswoman Megan Peters, the driver of the Chevrolet Pickup Truck 36-year-old Alan Lynott of Fairbanks is in jail at this hour, after what witnesses at the scene described as purposely running a red light in the vehicle.
His truck t-boned the vehicle of 36-year-old Fairbanks man Wyatt Hurlbut, leaving him with life-threatening injuries.
Hurlbut was transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital where he was stabilized and will now be flown to Anchorage.
After the collision, the driver of the truck Lynott was transported by ambulance; he then jumped out of the ambulance and ran on foot where he was later detained a few blocks down the street.
Troopers say Lynott had an outstanding felony warrant for failure to comply with conditions of release and the pickup he was driving was stolen.
According to witnesses at the scene, Lynott also attempted to steal a vehicle and flee but was stopped by the owners.
