The Fairbanks North Star Borough is providing resources to the estimated 2500 residents still without power.
The Borough has set up warming centers being run by the Red Cross. In Fairbanks the Noel Wien Library will have their auditorium open from 9am-9pm Saturday and Sunday. Internet will be available as well as power strips for recharging your devices.
North Pole High School will also be open as a warming center this weekend from 9am-9pm and does have shower facilities on hand.
According to a Borough press release, the following locations are also open as shower facilities:
Mary Siah Recreation Center, 805 14th Avenue, (Airport Way and Barnette)
Hours: Saturday, open until 3:45PM today Sunday 8AM-12PM
Wescott Pool, 300 E 8th Ave, North Pole
Saturday, open until 4PM today Sunday 1PM-6PM
Mayor Hopkins has waived shower fees for those that identify themselves without electricity. Please
advise Borough staff when arriving at the facility.
