AWG Legacy Recycling Project

FAIRBANKS - While the Olympic spirit is nearing the end its cycle, Fairbanks residents will get another dose of wintertime sportsmanship at the Arctic Winter Games, and organizers want to keep the event clean and green. Volunteers say new recycling bins are coming to Fairbanks and several may stick around thanks to a sponsorship by Kinross Fort Knox and a grant from the borough. As part of a mandate, host cities for the Arctic Winter Games must offer recycling for participants and during the games there will be different bins for paper, plastic, and aluminum. When the games end, local residents can expect to see the recycling bins placed across town at places like Pioneer Park, Birch Hill, Morris Thompson Visitor Center and Project Fairbanks.
