AST Adventure Relay starts this week

The Alaska State Troopers Adventure Relay is a trans-Alaska trek to raise money for the Wish Upon The North Star, a non-profit organized by Alaskans in 1983 to fulfill the wishes of Alaskan children with life-threatening illnesses.
The run starts at 8am Thursday (July 24) at the Alaska State Trooper post on Peger road in Fairbanks.
Runners will travel a little over three miles to Grahel Landing downtown on the Chena River near the Wendell Street Bridge.
The second leg of the race is a 7-point-2 mile float down the Chena River using non-motorized watercraft with the destination being Pikes Landing.
At Pikes, participants get on bicycles and ride out the Parks Highway to the Volunteer Fire Department at Ester.
Runners will then head on down the Parks Highway, toward the finish line, more than 650 miles away, in Seward.
They are expected to get there July 28.
