Soldiers from the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division will be conducting live-fire qualifications with the
Mobile Gun System -27 this week in the Yukon Training Area as part of their annual requirements.
People living in the area of Eielson Air Force Base and Moose Creek can expect to hear loud booms and feel vibrations
as members of the SBCT conduct night live-fire qualifications using the 105mm munitions throughout the day and evening today
through Wednesday, April 30.
The Stryker crews must regularly qualify in low light visibility or dark conditions, as well as daylight, in order to ensure that
the unit is ready and capable of rapidly deploying and conducting combat operations anywhere in the world.
As the only Stryker Brigade in the Arctic, the 1/25th is the only unit that must contend with winter weather conditions as
well as lack of sunlight in the summer while qualifying their crews.
