Appropriation Bill Benefits Native Health

FAIRBANKS- Last night the United States Congress passed a $1.1 trillion spending bill, which will bring $66 million dollars to tribally managed hospitals and clinics. As part of the appropriations bill, the Chief Andrew Isaac Health Center in Fairbanks will receive 20- million dollars in additional federal funding for staffing and operations this year.  U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski says the money could pay for 172 new jobs in Fairbanks Native health centers in Barrow, southcentral Alaska, Norton Sound, the Copper River area and the Kenai Peninsula will receive between $3.5 million and $12.5 million dollars.
