Another packed weekend of sports events

FAIRBANKS, AK-On the heels of Midnight Sun weekend last week here's a look at a packed weekend of sports events. If you ever wanted to out run the cops, legally, you can in the Run From The Cops 5K at the Fairbanks Police Department. Proceeds will go to Wish Upon a North Star. After the run/walk there will be tours of patrol cars and equipment and refreshments. It starts at 10 am. $25 for Adults and $20 for Kids.

Also at 10 am tomorrow at the UAF Patty Center the Spruce Tree Classic. A 7.2 mile run through UAF trails and that's free 99.

If want to see a test of endurance the Inaugural Sluice Box 100 starts at 7 am tomorrow at Mushers Hall. There is a 36 hour cutoff to complete 100 miles by foot or by bike. Participants can make a five person relay team with exchange points at 23, 41, 70, and 82 miles.

For basketball fans the Tournament of Champions basketball tournament starts tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the Patty Center.

The Goldpanners have a three game series with the Kenai Peninsula Oilers this weekend. Games are 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and Sunday's game will be at 2 p.m.

The GFRA will have racing tonight a 7 p.m. with a 50 lap B-stock race.
