The Westmark Hotel was packed today as the Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce had their annual Awards luncheon.
After acknowledgements to the individual Board of Directors and committee leaders, two prestigious awards were handed out.
Two individuals were recognized for their contributions to the community.
Heather Lambert was given the George Nehrbas award for the volunteer of the year.
Jeff Welch and Travis Lewis of Dateline Digital Printing were recognized as the Bill Stroecker business of the year.
Heather Lamber says the award shows her efforts are not in vain.
You know this community is amazing, and I really enjoy giving to the kids.
And to be acknowledged for giving, and for donating my time, it's huge and it inspires me to continue to do and give for Fairbanks to the non-profits that need the people to volunteer." Geoff Welch was equally surprised when he received his award.
"Well it's a huge surprise and we've worked for a long time to build a business that we can really be proud of, and that we hope the community can be proud of, and to show up today and be surprised with this award is really, really amazing."
