The Animal Control Shelter will offer low cost Rabies Vaccines next week

Due to the recent cases of Rabies found in wolves near the Chandalar Lake area in the southern Brooks Range north of Fairbanks, the Animal Control Shelter has been receiving many calls from concerned animal owners.

The need to respond to the public was apparent and the Shelter has teamed up with the Alaska Department of Public Health to bring low cost Rabies Vaccinations to Interior Residents.

Beginning next Monday and lasting through Saturday the Shelter will be open from 4pm to 7pm and will offer 5 dollar vaccinations to pet owners.

The Shelter Manager, Sandy Besser, told the Newscenter the best way to deal with the Rabies issue is prevention.
