Alaska women's basketball team gets two bigs to close recruiting class

FAIRBANKS-The Alaska women's basketball team completed their recruiting class by picking up two post players. A 6-1 center and 6-1 forward will be coming to Fairbanks in the fall in Daron Mainville and Stephanie Toumson.

Mainville hails from Barnum, Minnesota. Mianville is coming off a senior season averaging 17.7 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks per game. She was captain of the Barnum Bombers for three seasons, won a state title as a freshman and finished no less than second since then. She was all-state honorable mention last season and is a three time all conference pick.

Toumson is from Basse Terre, Gaudeloupe which is iN the Caribbean Leeward Islands but Toumson transfers in from the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Toumson averaged four points and four rebounds per game and half of those boards were on the offensive glass. She also had 11 blocks. Head Coach Cody Bench is excited about her length, speed and athleticism.

Mainville and Toumson round out the five player class that includes Victoria Elleby, Heather Heild, and Arinesha Smith.
