Alaska State Troopers restructure aviation training

Alaska State Troopers say they will be changing some of their aviation practices.

This announcement comes after the March 2013 crash of Helo–1 near Talkeetna where an Alaska State Trooper and two others were killed.

Although the National Transportation Safety board has, "yet to determine the cause" of the crash, Troopers say they have already begun to implement changes in their aviation program to quote, "meet the challenges of Alaska State Troopers' unique mission."

Some changes include installation of real–time satellite tracking devices and creating a new position in the aviation section that will oversee safety operations.
