Alaska to host Oceanside Waves this week at Growden

FAIRBANKS-The Alaska Goldpanners had Monday night off after their weekend series with the Lake Erie Monarchs. The Panners are on a roll.

After losing their first two games of the season they have won seven of their last eight games. They have a four game win streak as well. Alaska has a 7-3 overall record.

They swept the Lake Erie Monarchs three games to none in the Midnight Sun Series this past weekend.

Next up are the Oceanside Waves or San Diego Waves for a four game series. They are from the Western Baseball Association. The Waves are coming off an 11-8 loss to the Matsu Miners.

Alaska has their full roster available this series as Kris Paulino from UC Irvine joined the team this week.

Some interesting stats for your Goldpanners. Outfielder Jacob Hayes from Indiana State University is leading the team in batting average (.359), rbis (10) and home runs (3). He has three of those. He is tied for first in the ABL with 14 runs scored.

Pitchers Jace Puckett and Joel Belk both have two wins. Belk is second in the league with 19 strikeouts and leads Alaska with a 3.46 ERA.

As a team the Panners are second in batting average at .295 but they have they top on base percentage at .403. They're also second in rbis (69) and home runs (10).

Alaska will be playing at home at Growden Memorial Park up until July 3. The Goldpanners will get back into ABL games on June 28 when they host the Anchorage Bucs in a five game series.
