Alaska hockey goes to Bemidiji State this weekend

FAIRBANKS-The Nanook hockey team will be on the road for their last WCHA series of the fall semester. This weekend they will be in Bemidji, Minn taking on the Bemidiji State Beavers.

The Beaves are third in the WCHA with a 5-4-3 record. They also have the best penalty kill in the league but haven't won game since Nov 23. They've tied three of their last four games.

Alaska, however, is coming into Minnesota with momentum. They rallied-down 4-2 against rival UAA last weekend scoring three unanswered to win 5-4 in the Sullivan Arena. It ended a five game losing streak as well.

Sean Cahill was in net and got 29 saves in his first win since Nov 2, 2012. Patience is a virtue. He's given the Nooks a chance to win in the three games he's played. Senior center Cody Kunyk is now ranked third in the WCHA in scoring with 17 points.

The puck drops at the Sanford Center 4:37 p.m. Alaska standard time on Friday.
