FAIRBANKS-The Alaska men's ski and cross country teams close their recruiting class by getting two Europeans to sign National Letters of Intent. Alexander Eckert out of Germany and Hallvard Evjestad from Norway will be Nanooks this fall. They will both run and ski for UAF.

Eckert comes in as a solid runner and skier. He was first and second in two Marathons. In his first Marathon he finished 19th out of 523 runners. On the trails Eckert earned 103 International Ski Federation points in last year's German National Cup and was 16th in the Continental Cup. He plans to major in biochem.

Evjestad was named Most Outstanding in the 2013 Junior National Championships in Norway and was MVP of his ski team. He placed top 30 in the Scandinavian Cup and top 50 in the National Championships this year. He battled back from an illness that sidelined him for two years as well. He plans to major in general studies.
