Alaska commander in military sex scandal suspended.

The commander of the Alaskan missile defense unit whose mission includes tracking and possibly shooting down any weapons launched by North Korea towards the United States, has been suspended, the Army said.

Lt. Col. Joseph Miley, commander of the 49th Missile Defense Battalion at Fort Greely, Alaska, has been under investigation since January.

The Army has not said what the nature of the investigation is, but numerous press reports indicate the Army is looking into whether Miley turned a blind eye towards sexual misbehavior on the remote base near Delta Junction.

Miley has been replaced by his executive officer pending the outcome of the investigation, the Army said.
