Air Guard has unexpected mission.

It was quite a day for the Guardian Angels yesterday, when they were involved in an unexpected mission.

The Alaska Air National Guard sent a helicopter from Eielson to pick up a 67 year old hunter who had become ill about 25 miles from Paxson.

After he was turned over to medics at the Gulkana airport, to be transported to Anchorage, the helicopter started its trip back to Eielson.

It was following the Richardson Highway when it came upon the scene of a traffic accident at mile 188 and landed.

Three men, 69 year old Steven Alley, Senior, 47 year old Steven Alley, and 18 year old Christopher Alley, all of Valdez, were in the pickup that rolled down an embankment and into a creek. The three were picked up and flown to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital by the guard helicopter.
